MARIETTA - She might not agree with President Bush on many issues, but high school senior Emily Aronoff of Marietta is nonetheless looking forward to attending the State of the Union address Tuesday night -- as a guest of Republican Congressman Johnny Isakson.

Aronoff, who describes herself as a ``pretty hardcore liberal type of person,'' won Isakson's yearly essay contest. Her essay was about the history of the Republican Party in the South.

Isakson has escorted students to the State of the Union for four years. He says the trip gets students involved in politics and public service. Two of his previous guests joined his congressional office as interns.

The 18-year-old Walker School student says she's always been interested in public affairs. She hopes to attend Brandeis University in Massachusetts. She wants to work as an educator and activist associated with her Jewish faith.

Aronoff likes Isakson because she says he's done good things and ``he's not too conservative.''
