ATLANTA - Lawmakers from Georgia's 13th Congressional District have elected a member of a state transportation board. The group was deadlocked last week and had to reschedule the vote.
The state House and Senate members from the suburban district Tuesday elected Dana Lemon of McDonough to the powerful Department of Transportation board. Last week, Lemon did not garner the 26 of 51 total votes needed to win.
The lawmakers chose 39-year-old Lemon over Donzella James, a former state senator who ran unsuccessfully for the congressional seat last year.
Lemon owns a funeral home and is a member of the Henry County Chamber of Commerce.
The DOT board has 13 members, one from each of Georgia's congressional districts.
