Murder suspect arrested in Georgia

WELLSBURG, OHIO - An Ohio man accused of killing a man outside a Brooke County nightclub has been captured in Georgia. <br>

Sheriff's officials say 27-year-old Lavell Hicks of Steubenville, Ohio, was arrested Friday night in Hapeville, Georgia, by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. <br>
<br>
Hicks was extradited to West Virginia on Saturday and charged with murder. <br>
<br>
He's being held at the Northern Regional Jail in Moundsville. <br>
<br>
Hicks is accused of fatally shooting 21-year-old Demetrius Birden of Steubenville outside Club Loco in Wellsburg on August 15. <br>
<br>
A security guard at the club was shot in the chest during the incident, but was treated and released from Weirton Medical Center. <br>
<br>
A preliminary hearing before a Brooke County magistrate is expected to be held Wednesday.
