Alzheimer's patient killed in apparent hit-and-run

WARNER ROBINS - An 81-year-old Alzheimer&#39;s disease patient who wandered away from his nursing home Saturday night died in an apparent hit-and-run accident, police said.<br> <br> Anthony Weldon of Warner Robins was crossing the street shortly after 10 p.m. when he was struck by a burgundy sports utility vehicle. He died at the Houston County Medical Center about 10:45 p.m. Police said they were continuing to search for the SUV.<br> <br> Weldon&#39;s son, Lawrence Weldon, said his father had been diagnosed with Alzheimer&#39;s a few months ago and was prone to forgetfulness and wandering.<br> <br> The nursing home, Warner Robins Rehab & Nursing Center, had already been cited by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for problems making sure all the residents are watched and accounted for, The Macon Telegraph reported.<br> <br>
