KENNESAW - Kennesaw Police Chief Dewaine Wilson has been suspended by the city amid a state investigation.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation sought to answer ``questions over some purchases'' -- posed by the city manager's office in late July, GBI spokesman John Bankhead told the Marietta Daily Journal in Wednesday's editions.
Bankhead would not disclose any details of the investigation.
Wilson was suspended without pay August fifth -- two days before GBI investigators turned over their findings to Cobb County District Attorney Patrick Head.
A spokeswoman for Head did not immediately return phone calls from The Associated Press.
Assistant Police Chief Tim Callahan was placed in charge of the department during Wilson's suspension. Wilson has been with the department for 25 years.
