Former teacher's aide faces additional sex charges

GRIFFIN - A former Spalding High School teacher&#39;s aide accused of having sex with students has been arrested on an additional 22 counts of child molestation. <br> <br> Lauren Summers, 21, turned herself in to police Tuesday about a week after being released on bond for an initial sex charge. <br> <br> Griffin police said Summers was arraigned on 11 counts each of child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes involving two 14-year-old boys. The incidents allegedly happened off campus from May through the summer, officials said. <br> <br> Summers, who worked with special education students and assisted the school&#39;s soccer coach, has since resigned. <br> <br> Police initiated their investigation after parents told them of their suspicions. Summers also is accused of having sexual encounters with five other male students over 16 years old. Officials said Summers would not be charged in those cases because of the students&#39; ages, however. <br> <br> If convicted, she faces five to 20 years in jail on each charge. <br> <br> Summers has denied the allegations. Bond was set at $73,766.
