Intruder killed during Stockbridge home invasion

STOCKBRIDGE - Clayton County police say a couple acted in self-defense by shooting and killing an intruder who knocked on their apartment door and forced them inside with a gun. <br> <br> Police say Gary Menard knocked on the door of Stockbridge apartment of 21-year-old John Christian Peoples and his 24-year-old wife, Laura, about 10 p.m. Thursday. Police say the couple were expecting company and answered the door. <br> <br> That&#39;s when the man forced them back inside. <br> <br> John Peoples grabbed a handgun that was on a table and shot 24-year-old Menard twice, killing him. <br> <br> The couple were not harmed. A police spokesman says the incident is still under investigation, but it&#39;s unlikely any charges will be filed.
