The service for Lieutenant Billy Jiles was held Friday at the 1,300 seat Midway Macedonia Baptist Church.
Hundreds of mourners had lined up at a Carrollton funeral home Thursday to pay respects for Jiles. The 42-year-old officer had been in law enforcement for 20 years, and had worked for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Douglas County Sheriff's Department before joining Carroll County.
Authorities say 31-year-old Terry Johnson of Villa Rica shot and killed Jiles Tuesday night after killing a former neighbor, 85-year-old Robert Smith of Carrollton. Johnson died during a shootout with police.
