Officials to offer reward in dog's hanging

SAVANNAH - Officials in Savannah are offering a $5,000 reward for information in the death of a dog that an off-duty police officer found hanging from a tree behind a vacant house. <br>
<br>
The Humane Society, Savannah Police Department and Crimestoppers -- an anonymous tip line -- have called a news conference for 11 a.m. Thursday to announce the reward. <br>
<br>
The money is being offered through October 30 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the dog's death. <br>
<br>
Police say the pregnant dog was killed with a yellow nylon rope around its neck. The dog had been dead for several days. <br>
<br>
Reward posters will be distributed through the neighborhood where the dog was found Friday.
