GAINESVILLE - As Hall County officials continued to fine tune an ordinance tightening the county's manufactured home regulations, the number of new such dwellings okayed by the county last month totaled only nine.

Fifteen years ago, it was not uncommon for up to 50 manufactured homes to be okayed per month in the county.

In August, only ten were okayed - nine for the new homes and one for a used mobile home which is being moved into the county. That compares with 29 last August; 24 in May; and 48 as late as October 2000.

Also in August, there were 114 permits approved for new single-family homes in Hall County; twenty were okayed in the city of Gainesville.
