Jail trusty accused of cooking meth in judge's chambers

TRENTON - A trusty at the Dade County Jail has lost his privileges after being caught cooking methamphetamine in the Superior Court judges&#39; chambers early Wednesday, authorities said. <br> <br> Sheriff Philip Street said it was one of the more bizarre incidents in his law enforcement career. ``Stuff happens,&#39;&#39; Street said. ``Whether it&#39;s the good, the bad or the ugly, we have to handle it.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Richard Andrew Logan, 35, jailed for a DUI probation violation, had been a trusty for two months. He cleaned and did odd jobs around the Dade County Justice Center. Authorities said he apparently jammed paper into a lock to keep it from latching. <br> <br> The makeshift lab was discovered about 3 a.m. after a jailer found Logan missing and went looking for him. It was not clear how Logan, who now faces charges of criminal attempt to manufacture methamphetamine, got out of his cell. <br> <br> Investigators were trying to determine how the chemicals were obtained and where they were hidden, the sheriff said.
