ATHENS - Arizona state police arrested an Athens bar owner after they found 40 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of the car he was driving.
Michael Neil Rains, 29, was charged with two felonies for possessing and transporting marijuana for sale.
He was stopped in a rented Cadillac for a minor traffic violation Monday, said detective Jay Atwater of the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
An officer asked to search Rains' car because he was acting suspiciously, police said, and about $80,000 worth of marijuana was found in a duffel bag in the trunk.
Rains had rented the car in Athens, Atwater said.
Rains faces three to 12 years in prison if convicted. He was released from the Coconino County, Ariz., jail on $10,000 bond.
