GREENSBORO - Racism, revenge and incompetence are at the center of a political coup brewing in Greene County.
County manager Linda Lloyd says she is in danger of losing her job after the August primary ousted her allies from the county commission. Soon, rumors began flying that Chairman Tim Bramlett was calling for her resignation.

Lloyd's situation is the latest in a two-year shakedown that's seen voting blocs shift on the county commission, a change in managers and a lawsuit for reverse discrimination filed against Greene County.
After the Greene County's Citizens Coalition fired then-county manager Byron Lombard - pointing to his difficult personality, shoddy bookkeeping and uncooperative behavior - Lombard filed a lawsuit against the county and the commission, claiming that he was fired because he was white and that Rhodes and Andrews - both black - wanted to hire a black county manager.
Now, it is coalition members calling race foul, saying that Lloyd being a black female worked against her in the traditionally rural county.
Commissioner Walter ``Bud'' Sanders says the issue has nothing to do with race, but points to her lack of experience and an investigation by Lloyd's former employer which revealed allegations of mismanagement of funds, neglect and abuse.
