ATLANTA - Many state employees in the James A. ``Sloppy'' Floyd office building got a long weekend because of a water main break nearby.
The employees were sent home Friday after Atlanta's water supplier shut off the water to the 20-story building while workers tried to repair the broken pipe.
``The problem is, it's a 100-year-old pipe and there, and there are no parts for it, so our guys have to craft a part,'' United Water spokeswoman Debra Speights said.
A construction contractor severed the water main Tuesday. A temporary repair broke again on Friday.
Employees in the state building had to drink bottled water and use bathrooms across the street in the Capitol or the Martin Luther King Building. Workers in many departments just went home.
United Water said the part needed to repair the pipe would not be ready until sometime Monday.
