Augusta State dedicates building to Allgoods

AUGUSTA - Officials of Augusta State University and friends and family of the late Thomas F. Allgood Sr. and his wife, Thelma, gathered Wednesday to dedicate a new classroom building in memory of the couple killed in a plane crash two years ago. <br>

``Tom and `T' will always be remembered as long as this building stands,'' said former Gov. Joe Frank Harris, now chairman of the Board of Regents. <br>
<br>
The $18.2 million, 123,000-square-foot Allgood Hall is to open next month for the College of Business Administration and most of the College of Arts and Sciences. <br>
<br>
Allgood was a former state senator and a member of the Board of Regents when he died. While he was on the board including as chairman in 1996-97 Augusta State was awarded construction projects worth more than $65 million. <br>
<br>
Allgood graduated from the school, then Augusta Junior College, in 1949.
