ATLANTA - Emergency and Hazardous Materials crews responded to a train derailment Saturday night in southeast Atlanta after several cars went off the track.
Although the tankers were empty, two of them usually carry the chemical xylene, a colorless liquid with a sweet odor that is used as a cleaning agent.

Emergency crews put down water lines as a precaution because xylene, also found in paint thinner, is flammable.
Breathing it or absorbing it through the skin or digestive system can cause serious health problems.
No one was injured. The area around the derailment was closed to traffic.
