West Nile alert

ATLANTA - State health officials say the West Nile virus has been found in eleven Georgia counties, none in northeast Georgia, this year and efforts are being stepped up to study and combat the virus. Officials in several counties, including three in northeast Georgia, are trapping mosquitoes and submitting them for testing. <br> <br> The trapping is taking place in sixteen counties, including Towns, Union, and Gwinnett. Meanwhile, 64 counties in Georgia are now submitting dead birds for West Nile testing. <br> <br> So far, no human cases have turned up in Georgia; the infections have been found in birds, horses, and mosquitoes.
