NORCROSS - A disabled man charged with murder in the stabbing and bludgeoning death of his mother last week appeared in court for the first time Saturday morning.
Thirty-nine-year-old Victor Bruscato appeared before a magistrate judge in Gwinette County Jail.
An Atlanta television station -- WSB-TV -- reported that Bruscato, who is mentally disabled and mentally ill, limped into the courtroom. Bandages covered what police said were knife wounds on the fingers of one hand.
Bruscato asked the judge many questions, explaining that this was his first appearance in a courtroom. He asked about the death penalty, what ``lethal injection'' means, and who would represent him.

Bruscato said, ``This is the the first felony I ever had, the first murder.''
Police spokesman Ray Dunlap says Bruscato's father called police after he found his wife, Lillian Bruscato, in the kitchen of their home Thursday.
Dunlap says the 66-year-old woman had been stabbed multiple times and bludgeoned.
According to family members, Victor Bruscato -- who lived with his parents in Norcross -- had apparently not been taking his medication.
