Elovich of the Georgia Department of Human Resources.

Gracewood clinical director Gail Jackson will serve as the interim head of Gracewood, Elovich said Friday.

A survey team for the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services threatened to cut off Medicare funding in June after finding a patient with a broken wrist who was tackled by a staff member.

Last month, after federal surveyors were convinced that the danger to patients had been corrected, a separate state survey found an ``immediate jeopardy'' to patients.

This included a patient beaten with an aluminum pipe by a staff member and a patient who broke his neck after he jumped out a window because he wasn't being closely watched.
