Crews work hard to get stadium ready for season's start

ATHENS - Two weeks before the University of Georgia football season kicks off, construction crews are working around the clock to make the eastern end of Sanford Stadium ``fully operational&#39;&#39; for football fans. <br> <br> Charles Whittemore, UGA assistant athletic director, says everything the fans need will be ready and working by the first game. <br> <br> But that does not mean everything will be finished or perfect by then. <br> <br> ``This is still a construction site, so we are going to get a temporary occupancy permit,&#39;&#39; Whittemore said. <br> <br> Georgia opens its football season against Clemson on August 31st, and officials expect to fill the 86,520-seat stadium. <br> <br> The $16 million construction project, called the Gate 6 project, is designed to make the eastern end of the stadium more comfortable for fans. <br> <br> It includes much wider entry and exit points at newly constructed Gates 6 and 7.
