Cartersville wins Junior League world title

TAYLOR, MICHIGAN - Cartersville from behind to beat David, Chiriqui, Panama 3-2 and to become the world champions of Junior League baseball Saturday night. <br>

Trailing 2-0 after five innings, Cartersville sent the game into extra innings after scoring a run in both the sixth and seventh. <br>
<br>
The 22nd annual Junior League World Series for 13- and 14- year-olds was played at Heritage Park. <br>
<br>
Catcher Jamie Farr hit a ninth-inning bloop single to right-center field to bring Jacob Roberts in from second and give Cartersville the lead. <br>
<br>
Cartersville, an all-star team formed after the regular season, won 18 straight games. <br>
<br>
Panama was the first team from Central America to play in the invitational tournament. <br>
<br>
Jesus Barroso scored Panama's first run in the third inning. Nelson Mendez scored on a double by Barroso in the fifth. <br>
<br>
Scott Morris put Cartersville on the board in the sixth and Michael Castleberry tied the game on a squeeze bunt play that was contested by Panama Manager Raul Atencio. <br>
<br>
Benji Farr got the win in relief. Einar Atencio, who pitched the entire game for Panama, took the loss.
