Wolff has surgery to repair torn knee ligament

CHICAGO - Josh Wolff of the Chicago Fire had surgery Wednesday to repair torn knee ligaments, and will begin rehabilitation immediately. <br> <br> Dr. Preston Wolin, the Fire&#39;s physician, reconstructed the anterior cruciate ligament in Wolff&#39;s right knee and repaired his medial meniscus. Wolff, a key member of the U.S. World Cup squad, is expected to be out about six months. <br> <br> Wolff, of Stone Mountain, tore his ACL on Aug. 14 in Chicago&#39;s 5-1 win over Kansas City. It&#39;s the third time in four years he has had a season-ending injury. He had a similar injury to his left knee three years ago. <br> <br> Wolff had five goals and five assists in 14 games for the Fire. He also made an impressive showing at the World Cup, where the United States advanced to the quarterfinals, its best showing since 1930. He appeared in two games and assisted on Brian McBride&#39;s winning goal against Mexico.
