KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE - Kelley Washington, a big-play threat at wide receiver for Tennessee, will miss Saturday's season opener against Wyoming because of a knee sprain.
``We'll play it week to week and it's something that should get better with time,'' coach Phillip Fulmer said Monday. ``We don't expect any long term problems but the thing just kept being sore.''
Washington, a sophomore, caught 64 passes for 1,010 yards and five touchdowns last season.
He will not practice any more this week.
``I'm taking precautions for what's best for myself, my family and my team,'' Washington said. ``I'm taking it day by day and game by game. I'm going to wait until my knee feels like the other knee.

``It's a weird feeling. I've never had soreness in my knees.''
Washington will receive treatment and be evaluated daily by the Tennessee staff.
The game will be played in Nashville. The Vols' second game is Sept. 7 in Knoxville against Middle Tennessee State.
