Vols' Washington out with knee injury

KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE - Kelley Washington, a big-play threat at wide receiver for Tennessee, will miss Saturday&#39;s season opener against Wyoming because of a knee sprain. <br> <br> ``We&#39;ll play it week to week and it&#39;s something that should get better with time,&#39;&#39; coach Phillip Fulmer said Monday. ``We don&#39;t expect any long term problems but the thing just kept being sore.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Washington, a sophomore, caught 64 passes for 1,010 yards and five touchdowns last season. <br> <br> He will not practice any more this week. <br> <br> ``I&#39;m taking precautions for what&#39;s best for myself, my family and my team,&#39;&#39; Washington said. ``I&#39;m taking it day by day and game by game. I&#39;m going to wait until my knee feels like the other knee. <br> <br> ``It&#39;s a weird feeling. I&#39;ve never had soreness in my knees.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Washington will receive treatment and be evaluated daily by the Tennessee staff. <br> <br> The game will be played in Nashville. The Vols&#39; second game is Sept. 7 in Knoxville against Middle Tennessee State.
