`Cooter' misses FEC filing deadline

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA - Good thing there wasn&#39;t much Internet surfing on ``The Dukes of Hazzard.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Actor-turned-congressman Ben Jones -- Cooter on the popular TV show in the &#39;70s and &#39;80s -- missed the online filing deadline to report his financial activities to the Federal Election Commission this week. He couldn&#39;t get his password to clear with the agency. <br> <br> Jones says he tried to send the report to the FEC all day Monday -- the deadline. The FEC does not accept faxed copies. <br> <br> Jones&#39; report finally reached the commission by midday Wednesday. <br> <br> Jones says it&#39;s ``absurd&#39;&#39; to require candidates to file electronically. <br> <br> He may be fined $600 for missing the deadline. <br> <br> Jones, a Democrat, is challenging Republican Eric Cantor for Virginia&#39;s Seventh District seat this fall.
