ALPHARETTA - Authorities say a worker handling electrical wiring at a construction site was hospitalized Tuesday after he was apparently shocked while working in a 20-foot hole.

The man was flown from the site north of Atlanta to Grady Memorial Hospital, which specializes in treating trauma cases. Alpharetta police Sergeant Chris Lagerbloom said his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Two other workers in the hole suffered lesser injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.

It was not immediately clear what caused the shock. The crew was working as a contractor for Georgia Power Company and handling a power conduit, which protects underground wiring.

Alpharetta firefighters used ropes to descend into the hole. They placed all three workers on stretchers and lifted them out by crane.
