GSO gives salute to America

GAINESVILLE - From the &#34;Liberty Bell March&#34; to &#34;The Stars & Stripes Forever,&#34; the Gainesville Symphony Orchestra presented its annual Patriotic Pops Concert Wednesday night, kicking off July 4th festivities in Gainesville and Hall County. <br> <br> The concert, at the Brenau University Amphitheater included an encore for the first time - a &#34;God Bless America&#34; sing-along.<br> <br> After opening with &#34;The Liberty Bell March,&#34; the GSO played Copeland&#39;s &#34;Fanfare for a Common Man,&#34; Herold&#39;s &#34;Overture to Zampa,&#34; Sousa&#39;s &#34;Washington Post March,&#34; and Rossini&#39;s &#34;Overture to Barber of Seville,&#34; before taking an intermission.<br> <br> The GSO then played Gould&#39;s &#34;American Salute,&#34; the &#34;Armed Forces Salute,&#34; and Tchaikovsky&#39;s &#34;1812 Overture,&#34; before finishing with Sousa&#39;s &#34;The Stars and Stripes Forever.&#34;
