Rep. Teper contests DUI charge

ATLANTA - State Rep. Doug Teper said he believes that a blood-alcohol test will prove that he was not driving under the influence when he was arrested by an Atlanta police officer. <br> <br> Teper, D-Atlanta, was stopped for a minor violation June 24 after leaving an Elvis Costello concert at the Chastain Park Amphitheatre in Atlanta. The officer charged the seven-term House member with driving under the influence after a roadside sobriety test. <br> <br> Teper insisted on a blood test. <br> <br> ``Having sat on the House Judiciary Committee for a number of years, I know how inaccurate the motor skills test is,&#39;&#39; Teper said Monday. <br> <br> Teper, who said he had ``a couple&#39;&#39; of beers over a four-hour period during the concert, said he was confident the test would show his blood alcohol was not over the legal limit of 0.08 percent. <br> <br> ``I think I was safe to drive and I think the blood test will confirm that,&#39;&#39; Teper said.
