HEBRON - Flight attendants approved a five-year contract with Comair, their first-ever labor deal with the Cincinnati-based commuter airline.

The contract provides salary increases of eight to 10 percent a year over five years, plus a bonus of $400 per year of service, the Teamsters union said Friday.

The bonus is to reimburse the flight attendants for money they lost when Delta Air Lines bought Comair in 2000 and ended a profit-sharing plan, said Victoria Gray, international representative of the Teamsters union, which represents the flight attendants.

The contract covers 680 flight attendants. The Teamsters and Comair have been negotiating the deal since late 1999.

The vote was 368 votes to accept the contract and 178 against, Gray said.

Comair was founded in 1977. It is based at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and operates about 800 flights daily to 102 cities in the United States, Canada and the Bahamas.
