NEWNAN - A lineman who had worked for Newnan Utilities since 1989 was electrocuted while doing routine storm repair work.
James Richard Sewell, 35, of Newnan, had no heartbeat when emergency crews arrived about 3:15 p.m. Monday, according to Melvin Hunter of VitalCare EMS. Sewell was up in a bucket truck at the time, he said.
Crews continued to perform CPR and defibrillation on Sewell and ran a full course of drugs, ``but ... we never could get him back,'' Hunter said.
Newnan Utilities General Manager Dennis McEntire said Sewell and other crew members were doing ``routine storm restoration'' related to Sunday's storms when he somehow came into contact with electricity.
``He was a lineman, a good one and very well trained,'' McEntire said.
