DAHLONEGA - Lumpkin County officials cut the ribbon on a new jail Wednesday morning.

Sheriff Jimmy Berry says it isn't being used yet.

Inmates should be moved into the new jail by mid-August. The 130-bed facility likely will be about half-full.

About a hundred people came out to see the ribbon-cutting.

Lumpkin County Sheriff Jimmy Berry says a second public open house will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
