Tifton teen dies during basketball tryout

TIFTON - An 18-year-old collapsed and died during a tryout for the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College basketball team, likely the result of a cardiac problem, authorities said Thursday. <br> <br> Maurice Collins, of Houston, died Tuesday in the emergency room of the Tift Regional Medical Center. <br> <br> An autopsy was performed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation medical examiner&#39;s office in Macon, but the exact cause of death has not been determined pending the result of further tests, Tift County coroner Mike Beaumont said. <br> <br> Collins, a 6-foot-7, 250-pounder, collapsed less than five minutes after the workout began at the school&#39;s gym. He had not yet enrolled in the two-year school in south Georgia.
