Tifton teen dies during basketball tryout

TIFTON - An 18-year-old collapsed and died during a tryout for the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College basketball team, likely the result of a cardiac problem, authorities said Thursday. <br>

Maurice Collins, of Houston, died Tuesday in the emergency room of the Tift Regional Medical Center. <br>

An autopsy was performed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation medical examiner's office in Macon, but the exact cause of death has not been determined pending the result of further tests, Tift County coroner Mike Beaumont said. <br>

Collins, a 6-foot-7, 250-pounder, collapsed less than five minutes after the workout began at the school's gym. He had not yet enrolled in the two-year school in south Georgia.
