AUGUSTA - The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accusation that one of its deputies choked a 13-year-old burglary suspect at the jail.
Richmond County Sheriff Ronnie Strength said Deputy Anna Ligon was trying to fingerprint and photograph the boy from Hephzibah on Wednesday when he made a fist and swung his head around.
The sheriff said, ``At one point, she grabbed him by the throat. One of the officers saw it and reported it. I asked for internal affairs to investigate it.''

Police said the boy had consumed two bottles of wine shortly before his arrest. He is charged with two counts of burglary for allegedly breaking into a store and stealing cigarettes and wine.
The boy was not seriously injured. He was released to his parents after being booked at the jail. Strength said the boy's parents have not complained about the incident.
Ligon will continue working at the jail while internal affairs officers investigate.
