WARESBORO - Police found 240 marijuana plants in a Ware County backyard and arrested the man who lived there.
James Craig Strickland, 47, faces drug and firearm charges following the Thursday raid, said Capt. Peggy Guinn of the Ware County Sheriff's Department.
The plants, which were less than 2 feet high, were being grown in pots beneath a pecan tree and concealed by a perimeter of 55-gallon plastic drums behind the home, Guinn said.
If grown to maturity and sold, the plants would have had an estimated street value of $224,000, Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents said.
Investigators also seized two shotguns and two rifles, and a small amount of processed marijuana during a search of the home and property, Guinn said.
