SUV chase crash kills one, injures four

PEACHTREE CITY - A mother with three children in her sport utility vehicle was severely injured Saturday night when her attempt to elude police ended in a fatal accident in Peachtree City. <br> <br> The mother, whose name has not been released, hit a minivan, killing its driver around 7:30 p.m., said Georgia State Patrol Spokesman Gordy Wright. <br> <br> The name of the driver has not been released. <br> <br> The mother, who was driving a Ford Explorer, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where she was listed in critical condition. Her children were taken to Scottish Rite Children&#39;s and Southern Regional medical centers, Wright said. <br> <br> According to police, the chase began in Meriwether County after an officer attempted to stop the Ford Explorer. Police said the mother sped away while police followed her into Fayette County. The SUV then hit a Chrysler minivan that had out into the street, killing its driver. <br> <br> Investigators found evidence of alcohol in the SUV, Wright said, adding that police still ``need to wait for blood tests to see if the woman consumed alcohol before the crash.&#39;&#39;
