Gainesville gasoline tanker overturns in Cobb

MARIETTA - A tanker truck hauling gasoline overturned in Cobb County early Sunday morning, spilling about 2,000 gallons of fuel. <br> <br> The intersection of Powers Ferry Road and Windy Hill Road was closed for more than 12 hours while hazardous materials crews mopped up the spill. Two lanes of Powers Ferry were still closed at the start of rush-hour Monday morning.<br> <br> The tanker belonged to Mansfield Oil Company of Gainesville.<br> <br> Cobb County Fire Department spokesman Lt. Dan Dupree said the truck, which was carrying about 6,500 gallons of fuel, was turning left at about 3:30 a.m. when the unidentified driver lost control of the rig. <br> <br> ``The driver took the turn too fast,&#39;&#39; he said. <br> <br> The gas ran into nearby storm drains, but it had not reached nearby Rottenwood Creek or the Chattahoochee River late Sunday, Dupree said. <br> <br> The driver was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. <br> <br> Cobb County Police do not expect to file any charges, spokesman Brody Staud said.
