Crawford Long opens its new hospital

ATLANTA - Crawford Long in Midtown Atlanta opens its new hospital Tuesday after two years of demolition and construction. <br> <br> The $270 million cost includes $210 million for the hospital and $60 million for the medical office tower that opened above the hospital in January and is about 80 percent leased. <br> <br> Health care consultants say the redevelopment was critical to the aging hospital. The hospital is linked to Emory University&#39;s medical school. <br> <br> It faced rising financial pressures as it sought to balance its role as a teaching and research hospital vying for insured patients in a competitive market.
