GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA - Florida fired men's track coach Doug Brown on Monday and replaced him with associate coach Mike Holloway.
The Gators are coming off a tie for fourth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, matching their best finish in Brown's seven-year tenure. But his teams never won a Southeastern Conference title and were inconsistent.
Florida finished 34th at this year's NCAA Indoor Championships and was 28th at NCAA Outdoors in 2001.
Holloway, 42, worked with the sprinters throughout Brown's tenure. His athletes accounted for more than 80 percent of Florida's points at the NCAA Outdoors during that span.
One of his charges, Rickey Harris, won the NCAA 400-meter hurdles last week.
