ATLANTA - Homicide detectives are waiting for medical examiners to determine whether or not a body found near a southwest Atlanta mall is the one of a woman missing since last weekend.

Cause of death has not yet been determined but relatives of Shaquilla Weatherspoon, 28, said they believed they were her remains.

Decomposition made it difficult for investigators to positively identify the body, Atlanta Police Sgt. John Quigley said Thursday. Police found the body in woods near Greenbriar Mall about 12:45 p.m.

``Fulton County said her ID was with her,'' said her mother, Alfreda Weatherspoon. ``Everybody loved her. Everybody she worked with loved her. I have no idea who or why.''

Earlier Thursday, police found Weatherspoon's car, a white, 2002, Ford Focus, at Capitol Homes near downtown Atlanta, not far from Grady Memorial Hospital where she worked. A brick had been used to smash the car's windshield. An anonymous call led police to the car.

Weatherspoon worked as a part-time Fulton County sheriff's employee. She disappeared shortly after leaving her job guarding prisoners being treated at Grady.

Weatherspoon's husband, Ray McKinney, said she had been missing since early Saturday morning. McKinney said he and his wife had argued just before she disappeared. He said he accused her of going to see another man.

The couple had a 6-year-old daughter. Police searched the couple's home Thursday but did not comment on what they were looking for there.
