Beat over-Power New York

UNIONDALE, N.Y. - Charmaine Hooper and Cindy Parlow scored first-half goals to lead Atlanta to a 2-0 victory over the New York Power on Sunday night and the Beat matched the WUSA record with their fourth consecutive win. <br> <br> Hooper gave the Beat (5-3-1) the lead in the 15th minute when she headed in a cross from Parlow for her team-leading fifth goal of the season. <br> <br> Parlow made it 2-0 in the 39th minute when she converted the rebound of a shot off the crossbar by Homare Sawa. <br> <br> Briana Scurry made five saves to record her third consecutive shutout. <br> <br> Shortly after the Beat took the lead, Scurry denied the Power (2-6-1) an equalizer by steering a blast by Sara Whalen wide of the goal. In the second half, she made two strong saves on Tiffeny Milbrett.
