Second suspect arrested in 1999 Lock Haven beating death

LOCK HAVEN, PENNSLYVANIA - A former Lock Haven University football player was arrested in Georgia on murder and kidnapping charges in a 1999 beating death that was profiled on the television show ``America&#39;s Most Wanted.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Fabian Desmond Smart, 24, of Clyo, Ga., was arrested Monday at the lawn-care company where he worked in Rincon, Ga. Authorities said they didn&#39;t know when he would be returned to Pennsylvania for trial. <br> <br> Smart and Willie Marvin Williams Jr., 24, of Philadelphia, have been charged with murder, kidnapping and conspiracy in the death of 21-year-old Jason McMann. <br> <br> Smart and McMann had been feuding for some time when they got into a fight the night of Jan. 22, 1999, according to court documents. McMann was severely beaten, and, according to authorities, Smart and Williams later returned to the scene, put McMann into the trunk of Smart&#39;s car and drove to a secluded spot near Loganton in Clinton County, where Smart beat McMann with a gun and a branch and left him. <br> <br> McMann died from severe head trauma and hypothermia. His body wasn&#39;t found for almost three months. <br> <br> Smart was a free safety on the Lock Haven football team at the time, and the fight occurred at an off-campus house that was known as a hangout for football players. <br> <br> Nick Polk, who was the Lock Haven coach at the time and now is director of football administration for NFL Europe, would not comment when contacted by The Express of Lock Haven.
