Mother accused of shooting sons wants to attend funeral

GRIFFIN - A 63-year-old woman accused of fatally shooting her adult sons in a Spalding County nursing home wants to attend their funeral. <br> <br> Lawyers for Carol Carr said yesterday that a judge probably will release her from jail to attend services planned tomorrow in Jonesboro. <br> <br> Virgil Brown - one of her lawyers - plans to seek court approval today. <br> <br> Carr - who is charged with two counts of murder - is under suicide watch at the Spalding County Jail. <br> <br> Police said she shot her sons - 42-year-old Michael Randy Scott - and 41-year-old Andy Byron Scott - as they lay in bed Saturday night at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation in Griffin. She then walked to the lobby and waited for police. <br> <br> Family members said Carr was trying to end their suffering brought on by Huntington&#39;s disease, which slowly cripples the brain and the body. <br> <br> The men&#39;s father - Hoyt Scott - also suffered from the hereditary, degenerative nerve disorder. He died in 1995 after spending 12 years in a nursing home.
