COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA - South Carolina center fielder and second baseman Justin Harris was accepted in a pre-trial intervention program Wednesday after being arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness earlier this week.
School spokesman Kerry Tharp said Harris planned to fly to Omaha, Nebraska, later Wednesday to join the Gamecocks as they prepare for the College World Series.
Harris was arrested Monday morning, hours after he scored the final run in the Gamecocks 6-4 win over Miami, to earn South Carolina's first trip to the College World Series since 1985.
Coach Ray Tanner suspended Harris following the arrest. Harris is still under suspension and it's unclear if he will play in South Carolina's first game against Georgia Tech on Friday.
