Tour bus driver, teens hospitalized following crash along I-85

ATLANTA - Authorities say the driver of a tour bus carrying members of a North Carolina church youth group was struck by an oncoming car and critically injured Friday morning as he was inspecting a problem with the bus. <br> <br> Fulton County police Major Wenda Phifer says the Eastern Tours Charter bus was carrying 40 teenagers and seven adults from a Catholic youth camp in North Carolina to Six Flags in Atlanta when it was struck around nine a.m. <br> <br> She says the bus stalled two lanes from the median on Interstate 85 near Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport. The driver was behind the vehicle trying to open the engine door when he and the bus were struck by a Chevrolet Impala driven by 23-year-old Gilbert Jackson of Fairburn. <br> <br> The bus driver, described as a man in his late 40s, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center, and 35 teenagers were taken to South Fulton Medical Center. The teens were treated for minor injuries. <br> <br> Jackson was taken to Atlanta Medical Center with less serious injuries than the bus driver.
