NOBLE - Authorities were back at a crematory in northwest Georgia this morning after lawyers touring the site found more bones, hair and tissue on the site where hundreds of rotting corpses were found discarded earlier this year.

The bones were found by lawyers gathering evidence for civil lawsuits against Tri-State Crematory operator Ray Brent Marsh and several funeral homes. About 90 suits have been filed.

David Ashburn, director of the Walker County Emergency Management Agency, said the new findings were probably left over from the initial investigation. He said he expects more fragments to appear in the future as well.

Ashburn said, ``There were some small bone fragments, some hair. The findings are not significant to the investigation. There are no new bodies.''

John Bankhead, spokes for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, said the matter found was fragments washed away from the bottom of vaults when the valts were cleaned out.

In February, search teams found 339 corpses on the crematory grounds. Bodies were found scattered in the woods, stacked in storage buildings, stuffed by the dozens into burial vaults and buried in pits dug around the property.

The 29-year-old Marsh has been in jail in Walker County since February 17, accused of taking money for cremations he never performed. He is awaiting a bond hearing on some of the 294 felony charges against him.
