ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - A Georgia man has pleaded innocent to charges he disrupted a Northwest Airlines flight to Japan a week ago.
Forty-seven-year-old William Mullis faces one felony charge of interfering with a flight crew. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Prosecutors say the flight from Detroit to Tokyo on June 13 was diverted when Mullis became unruly.
According to an FBI affidavit, Mullis consumed three drinks and another bottle of alcohol he brought on board, walked around the plane when he wasn't supposed to, kissed babies, swore at people, smoked in the restroom and threatened a flight attendant.
Mullis was released to an Anchorage halfway house Wednesday.
