ATHENS - The owner of Allen's World Famous Hamburgers in Athens has died.
Danny Self died Tuesday of a heart attack at Athens Regional Medical Center. He was 54.

Self was known as the quick-witted man behind the bar of one of Athens most well-known establishments in the Normaltown neighborhood.

In 1989, The B-52s immortalized the eatery as being the place with the 25-cent beers.
Senator Zell Miller also worked there in the '50s while studying at the University of Georgia.

Miller released a statement saying Danny Self -- quote -- "had become about as big a landmark as the historic restaurant he ran."
Self's funeral is scheduled tomorrow at the Catholic Center at the University of Georgia. A memorial service will be held at Allen's following burial at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Karen, and two sons, Nat and Drew, all of Athens.
