Veneman said unusual weather circumstances -- particularly severe freezing last winter -- had caused tremendous crop losses for farmers.
The counties named disaster areas were Appling, Bacon, Bryan, Bulloch, Candler, Dodge, Emanuel, Evans, Jeff Davis, Jenkins, Laurens, Liberty, Long, Montgomery, Pierce, Screven, Tattnall, Telfair, Toombs, Treutlen, Wayne and Wheeler.
