Augusta man pleads guilty to burning neighbor's home

AUGUSTA - A 35-year-old Augusta man has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court of setting fire to a neighbor&#39;s home in an attempt at racial intimidation. <br> <br> Jimmy McKettrick pleaded guilty yesterday to federal crimes, including using fire to attempt to injure and intimidate and using fire to interfere with housing rights. <br> <br> No sentencing date was scheduled. <br> <br> McKettrick used a cup of gasoline to set fire to Robert Jackson the third&#39;s home on October 21, 2001. Police said he also had spray-painted ``KKK,&#39;&#39; a racial epithet and the phrase ``get out or be burned out&#39;&#39; on the house. <br> <br> Testimony revealed McKettrick has a 20-year history of suicide attempts and self-mutilation by cutting. He has previously served a prison term for robbing a building and setting it on fire.
