The announcement of the vote by the conference's athletic directors came Thursday from commissioner Roy Kramer.
Davis led LSU to its first NCAA outdoor track title since 1990. He won the triple jump and long jump, the first to do that since 1998 and only the sixth in the history of the championship. He also ran a leg on the 4x100-meter relay team, giving him a hand in 30 of LSU's 64 total points. Davis ended his career as a nine-time All-American and six-time national champion.
Pickens led the Crimson Tide to the national championship. In three seasons, she earned 14 All-American honors and two individual titles. She is the only gymnast in NCAA history to earn five All-American honors in two different seasons -- 1999 and 2002. She was the SEC Gymnast of the Year for the third year in a row, becoming the league's first to win four individual titles in the same year -- all-around, vault, bars and balance beam.
The nominees from Georgia were tennis star Matias Boeker and golfer Angela Jerman.
