HUACHUCA CITY, ARIZONA - A wildfire that charred 36,000 acres of dry grass and oak brush in southern Arizona was close to being fully contained, firefighters said. <br>

Decreased winds allowed firefighters to make headway against the blaze, which was 75 percent contained Wednesday night. Full containment was anticipated by Thursday night, said Chadeen Palmer, spokeswoman for a multiagency firefighting team. <br>

The blaze burned one home and two barns but firefighters saved up to 100 buildings. No injuries were reported. <br>

The fire also damaged power lines, knocking out power to Fort Huachuca for about 15 hours before it was restored Wednesday afternoon, Palmer said. <br>

The fire stalled about 1 1/2 miles from Huachuca City, where officials had been warning of possible evacuations, Palmer said. <br>

The fire began Monday in rugged terrain on the Coronado National Forest. The cause was unknown. <br>

In southern New Mexico, a wildfire burning in the Sacramento Mountains has consumed 11,500 acres while forcing the evacuation of residents and destroying at least 20 structures, two of them homes. <br>
<br>
In southern Colorado, a 600-acre wildfire in Custer County burned two houses, but was fully contained Wednesday night. Officials were considering charges against a man whose trash fire got out of control and may have caused the fire.
